Turkey Requests Extradition Agreement with Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Justice Keut Rith has received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of Turkey to Cambodia Ayda Ünlü on Wednesday. One of the major discussions was about the extradition agreement between the two countries. The Turkish Ambassador has requested for an extradition agreement setting focal points for the implementation.

Turkey is aiming to strengthen legal cooperation with Cambodia.This was relayed on Wednesday by the Turkish Ambassador Ayda Ünlü to the Minister of Justice Keuth Right during her courtesy visit. The Minister has warmly welcomed the Ambassador. The meeting was at the request of the Ambassador to arrange for an extradition agreement between Turkey and Cambodia.

In response, the Minister has instructed Turkish side to prepare a formal submission through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so that the Ministry of Justice can study the request to aid in the preparation of the extradition agreement in the future. At the same time, the Minister and the Ambassador also agreed to set their own focal points for the implementation of this work, as well as to strengthen cooperation between Cambodia and Turkey.
